Videoconferencing What is Videoconferencing? A discussion between two or more groups of people who are in different places but can see and hear each other using electronic communications. The telecommunication network carries pictures and sound and such conferences can take place around the world. Placing a video call is very similar to placing a telephone call. Once you are connected you see the other person in color video and it may even be possible to transfer files to one another.
What are some potential benefits of Videoconferencing?
What are the basic requirements to have a Videoconference? A videoconference must have audio-visual equipment (monitor, camera, microphone, and speaker) as well as some means of transmitting information between sites. Many videoconferencers connect via an ISDN line due to its affordability of high-quality videoconferencing. Another great feature of the ISDN line is that it works over regular telephone lines. ISDN is not the only connection method for videoconferencing however. Internet-based connection is also possible but because it has to share bandwidth with other Internet data there may be audio clipping or delays as well as jerky video. |
